Yi San is a 77 episodes South Korean historical drama airing on MBC. Yi San had a big success and ending up in MBC Acting Awards with "Top Excellence Acting Award" for Lee Seo-jin and "Best Actress" for Han Ji-min, nominated for also MBC Best Drama but lost to Legend (Korean TV series) 태왕사신기. The drama has bit another historical drama, The King and I (TV series) for its ratings and performances and is reaching very high in ratings, keeping 2nd and 3rd and on some nights, getting 1st.

MBC’s popular series Yi San aired epi.75 on June 3, now there are only two chapters left.
Ranking top firmly among other TV series, it has reached more than 30% of ratings. A super popular and occasionally criticized YS, how does it's lead actor feel about all these?
On June 5, afternoon, at MBC YS film site, I met with Lee Seo Jin, who plays the soul character of Yi San.
This site is the main shooting place and it will also be the site where its last scene ends.
With a haggard face and warm smile, LSJ started this interview by saying: Hope to finish filming soon and rest
Q: How do you feel about the ending?
A: The drama ending, comparing to my personal regrets, it is more regretful that King JJ died without having fulfilled his reform plans. We cannot change the history, but it is really a pity that the King’s death came much earlier than expected. Many historians also say that if he lived 10 years longer it could change the entire dynasty.
Q: The most impressive scene?
A: The time of filming was so long that many scenes couldn't be remembered. Therefore the hardest scene seem to be the most impressive.
Q: Which is the hardest scene?
A: Last week shooting of SY’s death. It was very tough because of the hot weather.
Earlier there were many action scenes which were also hardest. Last week there was again a murderer, at last YS survived like passing a gate of hell.
Q: Is there any parts you think interesting?
A: When YS was crown prince, he often slipped out of the palace. I found that very interesting.
Q: Any regretful part?
A: King JJ saw the deaths of the people close to him: grandfather, HGY, SY, whenever someone dies, I need to think well beforehand how to reveal his sorrow. But when “I” die no one feels sad for me. It would be more touching to have someone grieving together. History records that when King JJ died only the Queen was by his side. She watched him dying slowly, then walked outside to announce his death. She wasn’t sad at all!
Q: Since YS airing, do you feel your popularity is growing?
A: It is not my popularity but the drama itself. I have made a number of series. When a series becomes popular, people will be nice to us. YS is very popular, so when I eat outside many people will recognize me and treat me very nicely.
Q: This is your second historic series, any difference?
A: Big differences. Damo was a mini drama; it's filming time was short. Because there were lots of stories needed to be shown therefore we tried to present a story with great diversities within a very short time period. YS is a long series, so the love story cannot be presented as the main part. Only until the last episodes love story got to be described.
Q: Is there any changes to you since shooting YS?
A: I got to know many people. I have acted with more than 70 people. That seemed to have changed me a lot.
Q: What do you want to do after YS?
A: I feel really tired physically. And I can start the long awaited dating.
Q: You have said in On Air cameo, "I met a pretty person, I want to bring her home!"
A: That wasn’t a script written by me. I did as the script written without even changing a punctuation mark.
Lee Seo Jin said he felt severely exhausted after finishing filming on June 1st, so he checked himself directly into a hospital and stayed there overnight. He came back to the site from the hospital in the morning.
LSJ is putting all his energy into YS, which will extend one more episode. Epi.77 will be the final. What will it bring to the audience?

Q: คุณรู้สึกอย่างไรบ้างกับตอนจบของละคร
A: ตอนจบของละครเมื่อเทียบกับความรู้สึกส่วนตัวแล้ว มันน่าเสียดายมากที่พระเจ้าจองโจสวรรคตก่อนที่จะได้ทำสิ่งที่ตั้งพระทัยไว้ให้สัมฤทธิ์ผล เราเปลี่ยนแปลงประวัติศาสตร์ไม่ได้ แต่เป็นเรื่องน่าเสียดายจริงๆ ที่กษัตริย์สวรรคตเร็วเกินไป นักประวัติศาสตร์ต่างพูดกันว่าถ้าทรงมีพระชนม์ชีพยืนนานกว่านั้นอีกสัก 10 ปีอาจพลิกโฉมหน้าของราชวงศ์ไปเลยก็เป็นได้
Q: มีฉากไหนที่ประทับใจเป็นพิเศษบ้าง
A: เวลาที่ถ่ายทำมันนานมากครับ ทำให้ลืมหลายๆ ฉากไปเลย แต่ฉากที่ยากที่สุดน่าเป็นฉากที่น่าประทับใจที่สุด
Q: แล้วฉากไหนที่ยากที่สุด
A: สัปดาห์ก่อนเราถ่ายทำฉากที่ซงยอนตาย มันลำบากมากครับเพราะอากาศที่ร้อน ก่อนหน้านั้นก็มีฉากบู๊เยอะมากล้วนแต่ยากๆ ทั้งนั้น สัปดาห์ก่อนก็มีการลอบปลงพระชนม์อีก แต่ลีซานก็รอดมาได้เหมือนผ่านพ้นประตูสู่ขุมนรกมาได้
Q: มีตอนไหนบ้างที่คุณคิดว่าน่าสนใจเป็นพิเศษ
A: ตอนที่ลีซานยังเป็นรัชทายาทครับ เขาชอบแอบหนีออกไปนอกวัง ผมพบว่าตอนนั้นน่าสนใจมากๆ
Q: มีตอนไหนที่รู้สึกสะเทือนใจเป็นพิเศษบ้าง
A: พระเจ้าจองโจทรงเห็นผู้คนใกล้ชิดตายจากไป ทั้งปู่ เลขาฮง ซงยอน เวลาที่มีใครสักคนต้องตาย ผมจะต้องคิดไว้ล่วงหน้าว่าจะแสดงความเศร้าเสียใจนี้ยังไงดี แต่เมื่อ “ตัวผมเอง” ต้องตายบ้าง ไม่มีใครเสียใจกับผมเลย มันคงน่าซาบซึ้งใจกว่านี้ถ้ามีใครสักคนมาเสียใจไปกับเราด้วย ตามบันทึกทางประวัติศาสตร์ตอนที่พระเจ้าจองโจสวรรคต มีเพียงราชินีที่อยู่ข้างกายพระองค์ พระนางเฝ้ามองพระองค์หมดลมไปอย่างช้าๆ แล้วก็เดินออกไปประกาศการสวรรคต นางไม่มีท่าทีรู้สึกเสียใจเลยแม้แต่น้อย
Q: ตอนที่ลีซานเริ่มออกอากาศ คุณรู้สึกมั้ยว่าคุณเริ่มมีชื่อเสียงมากขึ้น
A: ไม่ใช่ผมมีชื่อเสียงหรอกครับ แต่เป็นที่ละครมากกว่า ผมเล่นละครมาแล้วหลายเรื่อง เวลาที่ละครได้รับความนิยม ผู้คนก็จะปฏิบัติต่อเราอย่างดี ลีซานดังมาก เวลาที่ผมไปกินข้าวนอกบ้าน มีคนเยอะเลยที่จำผมได้แล้วก็จะคอยดูแลผมอย่างดี
Q: นี่เป็นละครประวัติศาสตร์เรื่องที่ 2 ของคุณ มีอะไรแตกต่างกันบ้าง
A: แตกต่างกันเยอะเลยครับ “ดาโม” เป็นละครขนาดสั้น เวลาถ่ายทำก็สั้นมากๆ เพราะมีเรื่องราวมากมายที่ต้องนำเสนอ เราจึงพยายามนำเสนอเรื่องราวที่หลากหลายภายในเวลาที่สั้นมากๆ แต่ “ลีซาน” เป็นละครยาว มีการนำเสนอเรื่องราวความรักไม่มากนัก มีเพียงตอนท้ายๆ ที่มีการนำเสนอเรื่องราวของความรัก
Q: มีอะไรเปลี่ยนแปลงไปบ้างสำหรับคุณนับตั้งแต่เริ่มถ่ายทำ “ลีซาน”
A: ผมได้รู้จักคนมากมาย ผมได้ร่วมแสดงกับผู้คนมากกว่า 70 คน นั่นเปลี่ยนแปลงตัวผมไปเยอะเลยครับ
Q: คุณอยากทำอะไรหลังจากจบ “ลีซาน” แล้ว
A: ผมรู้สึกเหนื่อยมากๆ ผมจะได้พักยาวๆ อย่างที่รอมานานซะที
Q: คุณพูดไว้ตอนเป็นดารารับเชิญใน On Air ว่า “ผมได้พบคนสวยถูกใจแล้ว ผมอยากพาเธอเข้าบ้าน”
A: ผมไม่ได้เขียนสคริปต์เองนี่ครับ ผมพูดตามสคริปต์ที่เขียนไว้แบบไม่ตกหล่นเลยสักคำเดียว
ลีซอจินบอกว่าเขารู้สึกเหนื่อยมากๆ หลังจากเสร็จการถ่ายทำเมื่อวันที่ 1 มิ.ย. เขาจึงตรงไปโรงพยาบาลเพื่อตรวจร่างกายและนอนพักที่นั่น เขาออกจากโรงพยาบาลกลับมาเข้าฉากในเช้าวันรุ่งขึ้น
